       Teaching method

Important elements of language teaching and learning.

Morphology:- It deals with the study of words formation

Phonology:- It is a systematic study of sound system of a language.

Semantics :- It is concerned with study of meaning in all its aspects

Syntax:- It deals with the combination of words into phrases clauses and sentences.

Graphology :- It is the representation of speech / sounds in writing.

The correct sequence of language teaching is L>S>R>W

L- Learning

S= Speaking

R= Reading

W= Writing

Method of approaches:-

Method :- A method is an overall producere for all orderly presentation of language material to the pupils. There can be many methods within an approach.

i.e a method is a way of teaching where there are prescribed objectives and guidelines, and the teacher has little or no leeway when it comes to implementation.

Approach:- An approach refers to different theories about the nature of language and how language are learnt. An approach describes the nature of the subject matter to the taught. An approach is self - evident way of reaching the desired goal.

i.e an approach is a way of teaching whose principles can be applied in many different ways.

1.The Grammar Translation Method = G.T Method:- It is also known as Classical Method. It is one of the oldest method of teaching a foreign language. The prime supporters of G.T Method are John Seiden, Karl Plotz and John Medingar.

Characteristics:-

Unit of Teaching is word.
Word to word translation is done.
Excessive use of mother - tongue.
Little Active use of the target language.
More emphasis on reading and writing.
Grammar is taught deductively.
Text book occupies an imporatant role.
Rules of grammar are momorized.
Separate books on grammar.

Advantages:-

Develops accuracy in writing.
Develops art of translation.
Very useful in developing skill of reading and comprehension
Requires minimum teaching aids.
Saves time and energy of teachers.
